  • Description: The film starts with some of the available aircraft, including an SE5a and a De Havilland DH9 with US 'Liberty' engine. Most of the DH9s have, to help them land on the snowbound airfield, skids fitted rather than wheels. A view of the snowbound airfield. A view over the tail of a camera plane as it takes off. The plane overflies the base several times, giving a good aerial view of the airfield's layout. The plane then comes lower, so that the view changes from vertical to oblique, and finally comes past the aircraft sheds at hedge-hopping height, the marks of its skids occasionally showing in the snow beneath it as they touch the ground. Trainee pilots in Avro 504s start up and take off in a line, five of them flying 'circuits and bumps', coming round and just touching the ground on landing before taking off again. They fly, very low, wingtip to wingtip over the camera in two passes. The view from the camera plane over the airfield again shows one of the pilots flying close enough to wave. Three of the Avros, in formation, close in on the camera plane. A ground view of the Avros overflying a flagpole with the RCAF ensign on it, dipping in salute as they do so.
